Alyssa Velazquez, a bright and determined young woman whose life recently took an unexpected turn. Alyssa has been diagnosed with an odontogenic fibro myxoma, a rare and fast-growing tumor in her gums. Thankfully, it is not cancerous, but due to its size and growth rate, it requires urgent surgery to prevent serious complications in the future.
On February 26th, Alyssa will undergo major surgery at Columbia Presbyterian in NYC to remove the tumor and surrounding tissue. To rebuild her gums and teeth, doctors will need to take bone from her leg—making recovery long and challenging. She will be unable to work for at least 3 to 6 months, and full recovery could take up to a year. This has also forced her to delay her next semester of college, adding to the emotional and financial burden.
Anyone who knows Alyssa’s family knows they are always the first to help others, but now they need our support. Alyssa is facing mounting medical expenses, lost income, and additional costs related to her recovery. Every contribution, big or small, will help her stay on her feet until she can return to school and work.
Please consider donating—your support means the world to Alyssa and her family!
