Education on Addiction, Treatment & Recovery

Building capacity of addiction professionals in NH to ensure quality treatment is available when sought.

The NH Alcohol & Drug Abuse Counselors Association (NHADACA) was founded in 1986 to advocate for substance use counselors, known as Licensed Alcohol & Drug Counselors (LADCs) and Master Licensed Alcohol & Drug Counselors (MLADCs). In addition to their college education, these State licensed professionals require a certain number of hours of specialized education and training substance use counseling core competencies. As the demand for these services increased NHADACA was there to meet the needs of this growing profession by establishing the New Hampshire Training Institute on Addictive Disorders. NHADACA through the Training Institute offers affordable access to professional development for clinicians and other providers to satisfy the requirements for state certification, licensure and re-licensure. NHADACA is the lead provider of specialized training for the substance use profession. Additionally, these trainings meet the credentialing needs for mental health clinicians, and now the growing peer to peer recovery community.

Serving 2,343 registrations in 2015 alone, the demand is high for increased frequency of training offerings.  Providers seek the information NHADACA offers and turns to them as a leader in this education.  The scope of the trainings is now becoming more diverse as we help other allied professions better understand substance misuse prevention, treatment and recovery.

We offer affordable events at three general registration price-points: $35/$45: $50/$60: and $100/$150 levels. Other professional development providers offer events with a registration rate of $199. In order for us to continue to extend these high quality, affordable programs we need your help.

Train It Forward -  Your generous donations can provide scholarships to those in need through our Train It Forward Program. This program allows you to personalize your donation with a note to the recipient of your donation.

General Excellence Fund - Your generous donation can go into the Professional Excellence Fund which helps offset the costs of providing expert regional and national trainers and coordinating these wonderful events, or to our Train It Forward Program for individual scholarships for our attendees. Additionally, the Professional Excellence Fund allow us to staff our agency so that we may educate and advocate for the licensed professionals serving our state and communities.

The photo below demonstrates your donations at work. At a recent HIV training, a mandatory training for all certification and re-certification, more than 75% of attendees were seeking licensure, while only 25% already possessed licensed credentials. NHADACA is building capacity. This training was offered for $35 member rate, $45 non-member rate.
