Stop out Human Trafficking Day is on June 21, 2019 and the Creativity Shell is looking for volunteers from every Houston neighborhood to become a Sole Sign Ambassador.

The Creativity Shell is a nonprofit organization on a mission to use creative trades to educate and inspire the next generation of makers. The organization teaches sewing/textile arts and other trades classes to students in public libraries, schools and shelters that rescue children from homelessness and human trafficking. Their classes are designed to educate and inspire children by teaching them essential life and practical skills.

Since their incorporation in 2015, the Creativity Shell has been actively involved in teaching sewing/textile arts and other creative classes to homeless and human trafficking survivors in Houston area shelters.  In 2018, the Creativity Shell was recognized by the US House of Representatives for their Hearts for a Fresh Start Campaign where children sewed hearts on to wash cloths and delivered them sex trafficking survivors. 

The Stomp Out Human Trafficking Campaign was launched on June 21, 2018 as a way to talk to children about human trafficking.  With many children out of school for the summer, this is a great time to educate the children about the dangers that are lurking in local parks, swimming pools and on the internet.  

The Creativity Shell received a proclamation from the Mayor of Houston declaring June 21, (and every summer solstice hereafter) as Stomp Out Human Trafficking Day.  Residents of Houston and surrounding areas are asked to display their special “Sole Signs” in the front of their homes on the day of the summer solstice or for the entire summer months, to raise awareness about human trafficking.

If you would like to sign up to become a Sole Sign Ambassador, please register online today and start collecting donations for Sole Signs.  After registration, you can create your own fundraising page to sell signs to friends, family members and neighbors.  

• Each donor will receive a Sole Sign that can be displayed in their home, business or windows. 
• Silver Sole Sign Ambassador - Will receive 5 Sole signs that can be given/sold to friends, family members or neighbors. 
• Gold Sole Sign Ambassador - Will receive 10 Sole signs that can be given/sold to friends, family members or neighbors. 
• Platinum Sole Sign Ambassador - Will receive 20 Sole signs that can be given/sold to friends, family members or neighbors. 

Sole signs can be picked up at the Creativity Shell in Kingwood (1570 Kingwood Drive, Kingwood, TX 77339) or the Creativity Shell in the Museum District (1629 Bonnie Brae Street, Houston, TX 77006).

The Creativity Shell is hoping to raise $10,000 from the Stomp Out Human Trafficking Campaign.  These funds will allow the organization to provide 12-weeks of sewing/textile arts classes to 50 homeless/human trafficking survivors from September – December 2019.
