Another world is not only possible, she is on her way. On a quiet day I can hear her breathing. -Arundhati Roy
What do landscape architects, low-income 4th graders, green builders, and graduate students have in common? They all see that "another world is possible" when they visit EcoVillage at Ithaca, for a few hours to a few days.
Here there is a ferment of activity and experimentation, from new forms of building to new forms of supporting healthy community living.
Learn@EcoVillage provides an integrated platform for teaching the practical aspects of sustainability, not just from the ecological perspective but also the personal, social and economic dimensions.
Programs are based on real-life experiences for diverse audience groups, from the local to the global. We conduct tours, workshops and experiential educational activities. We also interface with media.
- We work with regional partners to introduce the latest green building technologies to industry professionals and local planners.
- We have created a unique leadership development program for young people who are taking time off after high school or GED
completion, which help participants
to explore options for leading a life of passionate commitment to social
justice and environmental sustainability.
- We conduct immersion courses for college students and faculty.
- We address the issues of aging in community.
- And we support the creation of cohousing communities and ecovillages around the world.
Our funding sources are diverse, and individual contributions are an important base.
