Welcome to the 19th Annual Walkathon for St. Mary of the Assumption School! Last year, we raised nearly $90,000 for resurfacing and minor upgrades to our playground. Upon further inspection, our near 30-year-old main structure is past its useful life. So much so, it is not financially prudent to replace the surface while not addressing a playground that will only need an increasing number of repairs. Therefore, we redirected our efforts into planning for a total renovation of our playground area! While this is certainly exciting, it comes at a substantial cost - $180,000. While we have earmarked last year's fundraising dollars towards this new goal; we still need to raise additional funds. We ask our faithful donors like you to give generously so our plans can come to fruition this summer and not be delayed any longer. Here are some of the exciting things planned for our new playground:
· a 5–12-year-old apparatus including a rock wall, two slides, and multiple climbers
· a 2–5-year-old apparatus for our preschool, pre-K, and Jr. Kindergarten classes that include a slide and climber at the perfect height for our littlest ones; also, two "old style" rockers
· a modern twist on the traditional merry-go-round
· platform swings
· two new benches
· a state-of-the-art poured-in-place (PIP) surface that is low maintenance while minimizing injuries
Our new playground will garner much excitement and squeals of delight from our school children for many years to come. Prayer intentions can be made with any donation! Our school children pray for these intentions at each weekly school mass and during everyday morning announcements. Simply write your intention in the comments section when making your donation.
SMA Walkathon & Prayer Tree Intentions

Our 2024 St. Mary's walkathon campaign has ended with much success. We have raised over $50,000 this year for our playground renovation. With funds earmarked from last year's campaign, our total is now over $140,000! Thank you for your generous contributions to make this amazing project a reality.
For many years now, we have had a prayer tree painted on our main school hallway. Right now, its branches are empty, but soon it springs to life with pretty leaves filled with prayer intentions from our walkathon donors. Do you have someone in mind that you would like us to pray for? The students pray for these intentions daily through our morning announcements and weekly during our mass days all throughout the school year (2024-25).
