This Fall, as cases of COVID-19 rise and federal benefits begin to run out, our nation’s heroes are among those most affected by the pandemic. We are entering a season of continued unemployment, high heating bills, and holiday expenses. And we need your help to make sure that we can still support veterans and their families.
When Claire first came to the NCVRC office, she was homeless and at risk of losing her possessions. She had run out of cash to pay for her storage unit, where she placed everything when she lost her home. Our peer navigators sprang into action, not just to save her things, but also to help her find a stable income and safe housing -- Claire hasn’t slept on the street since. . Peer navigators have worked with her tirelessly to help her meet her basic needs, find financial help, locate work, and begin the process of healing. Over 100 hours of peer support later, she’s well on her way to a new life. But Claire isn’t alone. She is one of the hundreds of Veterans in our area who will need help this fall to find safe housing, stable jobs, and mental health support.
Since September 2018, NCVRC has served Colorado’s Veterans, with the mission of being the support system for our heroes and their families. This population is under enough stress-- finding the services and resources they need should not add to it. . Turning no one away, our Peer Navigators receive calls from across the US asking for help navigating complicated situations. Since opening our doors, we have served nearly 1,000 Veterans and their family members.
Now, more than ever, we need you to stand with the Veterans in Greeley, in the state of Colorado, and beyond. Will you support us as we continue our calling to support Veterans while they struggle? Every dollar counts.
