CELEBRATE EARTH DAY AND BRIDGEPORT'S EAST END

Youth United, the youth division of Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County (Habitat CFC), is hosting a neighborhood revitalization fundraiser in Bridgeport's East End this spring! Form or join a team of volunteers in carrying out an assigned project to help refresh the yard or home exterior of a Habitat CFC homeowner. We will arrange and prepare an age-appropriate project (porch staining, tree planting, making flower planters, etc.) for your team in advance. All you have to do is help get the word out about our event, fund raise, and show up the day of ready to get your hands dirty. In exchange, you'll get a Habitat CFC Youth United tee-shirt. This is a great opportunity for schools, clubs, organizations, sports teams, or even a group of friends to serve the community together. Walk-ins are welcome to join us for food, games, and activities - including a Mother's Day craft. Though projects are reserved for registered teams. Review the FAQs below.

Rain Date: Saturday, May 16, 2020

Part of Bridgeport's Park City Pickin' It Up initiative:

OUR GOAL

Habitat CFC builds decent, energy-efficient homes in the coastal Fairfield area for those in need. Habitat CFC homeowners purchase their home with a 0% interest rate mortgage after completing 500 Sweat Equity hours. In simple terms, we help make buying an affordable home possible for members of the community. Since 1985, Habitat CFC has built over 220 homes in Bridgeport and the surrounding region.

Youth United has sponsored 5 Habitat CFC homes to date and is working toward sponsoring our 6th home. Proceeds from Rock the Block will go toward the construction of our next Youth United-sponsored home and make homeownership possible for a family in Bridgeport.

FAQs

How many people can be on our team?
We won't limit the size of your team. However, understand that you may be broken into smaller groups the day of the event to ensure safety and make sure everyone can be involved in the project. We recommend teams of 6-8 people.

Can I change our team goal?
Absolutely! Your team has the option to change your fundraising goal to reflect your team's ability. For example, you may want to increase your goal if you have more team members or a large network of people willing to donate. Meet your goal early? Raise it to encourage more donors! Conversely, if you're a small team, you may lower your goal.

How do I collect donations?
Upon registering, you will get an individual fundraising page that you can share on social media, by email or text, or in person. You will also have a team fundraising page once your start or join a team, with which you can do the same. People can make an online donation through the link you share. Any donations to your individual fundraiser will automatically be counted toward your team's fundraiser whether it was made before or after you joined/formed the team.

What if I don't have a team?
Not an issue! Register and email us at  [email protected] letting us know you don't have a team and we will work to find you a spot on another team.

Whom can I contact if I have any issues or questions?
Contact Youth United by email at [email protected].

What do I do if someone donates to me by check or cash?
Offline donations can be mailed to the address below or dropped off at Habitat CFC. Indicate it's for Rock the Block and whose fundraiser the donation is to go towards (if a specific person/team). Make any checks out to "Habitat CFC".

SPONSORSHIP LEVELS

T-Shirt Sponsor $500 Help cover the expense of shirts for our teams. The shirts help unify all our teams, who come from different backgrounds and parts of Fairfield County.

Project Sponsor $100 Help alleviate the expenses of carrying out these projects for Habitat CFC homeowners. These neighborhood revitalization projects during Rock the Block remind us that the relationship between Habitat CFC and our homeowners does not end when they purchase their home and receive their keys - as many of the recipients of these projects have owned their Habitat CFC home for several years.

Activity & Craft Sponsor $50 Rock the Block is first and foremost about community outreach. Community members that don't form a team and fund raise in advance are welcome to join us for games, crafts, and other small activities - such as making a Mother's Day craft - which come at a cost to us. Help offset the expense of these activities so that we can create an engaging experience with community members.

In-kind Donor Whether it's project supplies (paint, flowers, vegetable plants, wood, nails, soil, etc.) or team prizes, there are many ways your business can contribute. View our wish list at the bottom of this page.
