Ending Homelessness is Possible! Our goal is to house every chronically homeless person in the Greater Concord area.
CCEH’s Housing First Concord Program continues to provide rental assistance and intensive caseworker support to 14 individuals, all of whom were formerly chronically homeless. We plan to expand this program.
The Concord Homeless Resource Center provides immediate assistance to people struggling with homelessness, including: Caseworker support, laundry, shower, haircuts, services from other providers, such as the Downtown Clinic, Riverbend Community Mental Health, and Veterans Services. Also, hot coffee and a safe, respectful environment. Over 540 individuals were served at the RC in the past year, in a total of 11,000 visits, as some come only a few times, and some nearly every day.
The Emergency Winter Shelter had its first season in the new building, located behind our daytime Resource Center. This was a vital safety net for some of Concord’s most vulnerable men and women on dangerously cold winter nights. We served 193 individuals over the course of this winter. The staff, along with more than 70 volunteers, made sure that everyone was treated with dignity and respect, care and concern.
