R2P's Month of Gratitude

R2P has more to be thankful for than can fit into one day. Your support enables us to keep participation FREE for the young people we love to serve. Thank you.

A fundraising campaign for Running to Places Theatre Company
They say that this is the time of year to be thankful for what we have. And yet, our national holiday of gratitude is followed by the single biggest shopping day of the year! What can we do?

Running to Places is proud to be participating in the growing international tradition known as Giving Tuesday: a global celebration of a new tradition of generosity. (Read more about it on the official website that started this wonderful phenomenon.)

Our goal is simple: To encourage those in our community to share from a place of abundance.
  • If that takes the form of making a donation to R2P, you will be helping us keep our promise to the young people we serve to let participation remain absolutely FREE!
  • You can also become a Fundraising Champion and encourage others to make a donation on your behalf, illustrating how one person's actions can be powerfully magnified with the support of a community.
We love what we do – providing a social and artistic home for the young people of our community, giving them the opportunity to make new friends, explore their potential, and become the best versions of themselves heading into the future.

We are very thankful for your support. Please give if you can, and share this with your friends, too: bit.ly/gratefulr2p.

(And thank you to GiveGab for giving a small organization like us have a powerful platform like this – and for waiving their own fee on December 1 for Giving Tuesday! In addition to being local, they're all really, really nice folks!)

ABOUT R2P

Stacks Image 3666   We Create Theatre

Running to Places (R2P) is a youth community theatre company that brings together middle & high school students from across the area. Our company rehearses and performs a complete season of fully-staged productions, reaching an audience of over 5,000 annually. By working with experienced mentors, company members learn best practices in a wide range of disciplines within the theatrical arts – from singing, acting, and dancing to lighting, sound, set design, costuming, choreography, and stage management.
“They have taught kids the value of the ensemble — that the show is a success only if every person performs at their best and that each depends upon the other for the show to really rock!” – Bruce Lane, Owner, Purity Ice Cream

We Tear Down Barriers   Stacks Image 3712

Thanks to support from our community, participation in R2P is FREE. We have eliminated barriers to entry to keep our doors open to any interested young person, providing equitable opportunities for all. Everyone who auditions is offered a place in a show — no one is ever “cut” or excluded. Our welcoming community connects teens and families from across Tompkins County. They forge lasting friendships with people they otherwise would never have met.
If you would like to support us in our mission to keep participation free for every young person in our community, you can make a secure donation online now.
“I am constantly hearing about or seeing young people who are struggling in so many ways – with self-esteem, peer pressure, family discord, school issues, work ethics, and so much more. R2P is the kind of group that can address all these issues in one place” – Gay Huddle, community member

Stacks Image 3702   We Empower Youth

We're in the business of youth development, helping raise our community's children and making excellent theatre in the process. We teach them life skills with theatre as both the means and the end. We provide a supportive environment for young people to grow as artists and citizens of the world. By treating youth with respect and nurturing them as artists, members of a community, and the future leaders of our society, we set the stage for them to become the best versions of themselves – for life!
"Running to Places provided a warm, nurturing, & supportive environment at just the perfect time in my daughter's development. R2P gave her a life beyond the petty antics and peer pressures of middle and high school. Not only did she develop strong bonds with her R2P peers, but R2P provided strong multi-generational bonds, with younger students, college students, and adult professionals. And the confidence and public presentation skills she developed will be invaluable in whatever her future brings." – Paula, a grateful parent of an R2P company member
