NOTE: The campaign is set to run through the close of School of Rock (running August 10-12 at Ithaca High School's (air conditioned) Kulp Auditorium – tickets and info at www.runningtoplaces.org.) Not only will donations made by then will receive the thank you gifts, but also, the student "Fundraising Champions" will receive the thank you gifts matching their totals – so when you give a gift to R2P, you can also give a gift to one of the young people we serve! How's that for a win-win!
R2P is a youth community theatre company that brings together middle & high school students from across the area. We're in the business of youth development, helping raise our community's children and making excellent theatre in the process. We believe in providing equitable opportunities for every child. Everyone who auditions for R2P is offered a place in a show — no one is ever “cut” or excluded. Our welcoming community connects teens and families from across Tompkins County. They forge lasting friendships with people they otherwise would never have met. We strongly believe that our entire community benefits from the life skills young people develop through their experience in Running to Places.
Thanks to support from people like you, participation in R2P is FREE. Please join us by making a gift today. Your gift today will help support our work all year long.

We Create Theatre
Running to Places (R2P) is a youth community theatre company that brings together middle & high school students from across the area. Our company rehearses and performs a complete season of fully-staged productions, reaching an audience of over 5,000 annually. By working with experienced mentors, company members learn best practices in a wide range of disciplines within the theatrical arts – from singing, acting, and dancing to lighting, sound, set design, costuming, choreography, and stage management.
“They have taught kids the value of the ensemble — that the show is a success only if every person performs at their best and that each depends upon the other for the show to really rock!” – Bruce Lane, Owner, Purity Ice Cream
We Tear Down Barriers
Thanks to support from our community, participation in R2P is FREE. We have eliminated barriers to entry to keep our doors open to any interested young person, providing equitable opportunities for all. Everyone who auditions is offered a place in a show — no one is ever “cut” or excluded. Our welcoming community connects teens and families from across Tompkins County. They forge lasting friendships with people they otherwise would never have met.If you would like to support us in our mission to keep participation free for every young person in our community, you can make a secure donation online now.
“I am constantly hearing about or seeing young people who are struggling in so many ways – with self-esteem, peer pressure, family discord, school issues, work ethics, and so much more. R2P is the kind of group that can address all these issues in one place” – Gay Huddle, community member
We Empower Youth
We're in the business of youth development, helping raise our community's children and making excellent theatre in the process. We teach them life skills with theatre as both the means and the end. We provide a supportive environment for young people to grow as artists and citizens of the world. By treating youth with respect and nurturing them as artists, members of a community, and the future leaders of our society, we set the stage for them to become the best versions of themselves – for life!
"Running to Places provided a warm, nurturing, & supportive environment at just the perfect time in my daughter's development. R2P gave her a life beyond the petty antics and peer pressures of middle and high school. Not only did she develop strong bonds with her R2P peers, but R2P provided strong multi-generational bonds, with younger students, college students, and adult professionals. And the confidence and public presentation skills she developed will be invaluable in whatever her future brings." – Paula, a grateful parent of an R2P company member
