Pittsburgh Bereavement Doulas was created to serve a need missing from parents experiencing perinatal loss. We provide free labor doula support to women experiencing miscarriage, stillbirth, or a fatal diagnosis in which their baby will die shortly after birth. Having a dedicated guide to navigate the endless options and decision making, along with compassionately caring for these families in their grief has great value when they reflect on this experience. Creating meaningful memories of the short time they have together is something we specialize in. Your donation goes directly to the cost of providing a perinatal loss doula, memory making items (hand and foot cast kits, name bracelets, family handprint art, photo props, etc), miscarriage support kits and herbal remedies to relieve the discomfort of milk engorgement. We have established an excellent working relationship with both Magee and Forbes hospital and are hoping to expand to the other local hospitals.
We also are a resource for the postpartum period by connecting families with support groups, therapists, organizations that help with funeral costs, home funeral support, creating rituals, and the day-to-day needs of a person who just gave birth.
