Nutrition Works 2018

Supporting Good Nutrition in Child Care

A fundraising campaign for Jannus, Inc.

"I feel that participating in the food program gives each child at our facility an advantage of healthy brain development and growth. Being able to offer such wonderful planned-out, healthy, prepared meals really means a lot to me. I want the best care for our children and healthy meals are a huge part."  Tina, CACFP participating child care center provider.

Idaho child care providers who partner with Nutrition Works participate in USDA's Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). We want to make it easier for home child care providers to access our program so that even more low-income children in southern Idaho receive the nutrition that they need to grow up healthy and strong. To do this, we are launching a mini-grant for home child care providers in Idaho.

To participate in the CACFP ("food program"), a home child care provider must be licensed by their city or state. For many of these providers, the costs associated with acquiring a license prevent them from taking the additional steps to improving the quality of their child care. Nutrition Works recently launched a mini-grant  opportunity to unlicensed child care providers to cover the costs associated with licensing so that they can participate in and take advantage of the benefits of the food program. We are limited in how many grants we can award and would love to increase our available funds to be able to support more unlicensed child care providers.Nutrition Works currently administers the CACFP to more than 200 child care sites throughout all of southern Idaho, who serve more than 1.4 million meals and snacks to more than 8,200 children--of which close to 2/3 qualify for
"free" or "reduced" priced meals.

Our goals as a sponsor are:
- To feed nutritious meals to children in child care
- To instill healthy eating habits at a young age
- To provide nutrition training and resources to child care         providers

At a time when obesity rates are a national concern, it is especially important to invest in nutrition and teaching healthy eating habits to children at a young age. Your donation will help children attending unlicensed child care homes access quality meals comprised of the nutrition that they need as they grow. Please donate today!
