NPCA Centennial - Texas Style!

Educate, Engage and Empower current and future generations of national park stewards.

A fundraising campaign for National Parks Conservation Association

CIVIC VOICE LESSONS

As part of our Centennial campaign, NPCA Texas launched a legacy training program to educate, engage and empower current and future generations of national park advocates. We teach skill sets that participants can use in their educational paths, career paths and to affect change. To-date, we've led 20 civic voice lessons reaching more than 600 participants!

TESTIMONIAL:

“I believe that national parks are the foundation on which our present world was built upon, and without historic preservation these places will disappear. This in turn will affect our knowledge of our past. Everyone deserves a chance to learn about their past.” - Lupe, C., Mason, TX, NPCA Young Leader

YOUTH LEADERS

Our council of teens and young adults serve alongside us at community events and share important park messages with their peers, and community and political leaders.

CENTRAL TEXAS GROWTH

Our work spans the state, and the nation; but right here in Central Texas we’re expanding our programming reach, and our community patronage. We are working in coordination with area universities and partners to expand awareness, specifically, of the LBJ National Historical Park and on the need, and the “how”, to preserve and protect our national treasures.

Our educational efforts include both classroom sessions and in-park activities. After connecting Central Texans to their closest national park unit, we expand their awareness and interest to include activities and service learning at other national park units in Texas. This year, our local efforts will support the LBJ National Historical Park's pursuit for International Dark Skies designation!

NEEDS

Whether in Austin, the Hill Country or beyond…your support would offer sponsorship for our youth and community partners to participate at local events and in our parks. As a program partner, we have four dedicated Texas team members working in the community. In our workshops and youth initiatives, we provide materials and meals for events, cover reservation fees, sponsor supplies for in-park activities, and include local and national thought leaders.
