Help Build Scranton's First Natural Play Area

A fundraising campaign for Lackawanna Heritage Valley

Bringing Nature to the Heart of Scranton

The new Nay Aug Avenue Park will be vital in connecting children to nature. Nature-based play areas foster an appreciation for environmental stewardship, while providing opportunities for physical activity. In Scranton, community members will benefit by having additional recreational space that is conveniently located, and accessible to all. Businesses in Green Ridge and North Scranton will also benefit as the park will increase foot traffic in the area, and increase patronage to local shops and eateries.  The natural based play area will be a trailhead park constructed on land adjacent to the Lackawanna River Heritage Trail (LRHT). Preliminary designs include plans for a parking area, and play areas designed with natural landscapes in mind. Children will enjoy a bike safety trail, and numerous sections designed for educational fun, such as “Turtle Hill,” and “The Birds’ Nest”.
