Music For A Purpose Concert Series

Join us for a night filled with beautiful music

A fundraising event for Maryhurst, Inc.

Event Information

Music for a Purpose is a musician-led charitable concert series that focuses on using chamber music to promote awareness and raise funds for important causes of our time.

Making music brings a community together, and this community can be a powerful agent for change and growth. Louisville as a community has a long heritage  of supporting great music, and is one that cares deeply about humanitarian issues of all kinds.

About the concerts:

Music for a Purpose is thrilled to feature Louisville's Own premiere flutist Kathy Karr in a beautiful  concert of Mozart, Beach and Valerie Coleman's Maombi Asante. Ms Coleman was a former student of Kathy's and perhaps the most famous composer to come from Louisville to date! All proceeds from this concert will go to Maryhurst Center for children and families. Please come out and help us support this 175 year old Louisville bedrock dedicating to helping others!

About Maryhurst:

Founded in 1843, Maryhurst is the longest-operating child welfare nonprofit in Kentucky and among the first agencies in the state to fully adopt the trauma-informed care philosophy in its work with children, adults and families. Driven by a belief in children’s inherent worth and the strength of family relationships, Maryhurst offers healing through a specialized continuum of care that prevents abuse, restores hope, and empowers survivors of trauma. Programs include individual and family counseling (Maryhurst Renewal); psychiatric and campus-based residential treatment for youth; and community-based transitional living services and aftercare. Together, these programs impact the lives of more than 800 youth, adults, and families each year.
