Mississippi Day of Giving

A fundraising campaign for Mississippi Spay And Neuter
When MS SPAN was formed in Gulfport in 2005, it was the first organization in the United States to provide comprehensive statewide coverage for spay and neuter initiatives.  Since then we helped subsidize more than 28,000 surgeries through our voucher program, the Big Fix and Little Fix Rigs as well as another 30,000+ surgeries through our 7-year-old pet sterilization program at the Big Fix Clinic.  Our spay/neuter initiatives help proactively to fight Mississippi’s dire pet overpopulation problem.  Please help us continue to make a difference for Mississippi's pets, their human families, and our communities!
Our goal during Mississippi Day of Giving is to raise $1,000 to prevent cruelty toward spay and feral cats through spay and neuter. The negative effects of overpopulation can be seen in neighborhoods where stray cats continually breed, causing tensions between neighbors, and sometimes worse. In response to the woman who burned a cat alive and shared her horrific deed on Facebook, we knew that something had to be done to prevent acts like this in the future.

Through spay and neuter, we can stop cruelty before it starts by preventing the births of unwanted puppies and kittens. We believe that positive actions can change the world for good, and we want to enable Mississippians to do the right thing by getting strays fixed in their neighborhood.

From September 2015 to September 2016, we will be offering free spay and neuter to feral (wild) and stray cats in zip code 39213, where this act of cruelty occurred. Our goal is to fix 100 neighborhood cats.
