When you think of Civic Ensemble, you probably think of our iconic Community-Based Plays like On The Corner or our collaborations with Cornell like the recent Climates of Change. Or perhaps you are inspired by the Returning Citizens of our ReEntry Theatre Program. However, I want to share with you comments from an audience member who attended our acclaimed production of My Children, My Africa last season:
"It was a magnificent production - stellar performances, eloquently and poignantly conceived in that space, and many moving messages that continue to resonate with me. I was so impressed by Civic Ensemble’s commitment and ability to present a project of this importance and high caliber to our community. Thank you all for your artistry."
This Citizen Artistry cannot stay afloat without your help. Please join our Year-End Campaign to make Ithaca a Center for Political Theatre.
Our Citizen Artistry will be on display even more in 2018, as we ramp up our production of great political plays with world-class artists. This summer, Civic Ensemble plans to present a season of political plays by Emmy-winner Judy Tate and the internationally-acclaimed Saviana Stanescu. These plays examine U.S. slavery in the antebellum South and the contemporary urban landscape of the North. As usual, Civic ticket prices will be reasonable and no audience member will be turned away if unable to pay admission. We believe world-class theatre isn't world-class unless more of the world can see it. You can help us underwrite the cost of these shows so we can keep making political theatre accessible to all.
