Lundsteen Legacy of Leadership

THE SPIRIT AND PURPOSE OF THE "LUNDSTEEN LEGACY OF LEADERSHIP" CAMPAIGN

Sir Baden Powell founded Scouting in 1907 by convening 20 boys on Brownsea Island for a week of camping, outdoor activities and exercises in leadership.  With a self authored handbook, primitive equipment, and unbridled enthusiasm, Baden Powell brought the Scouting movement to life.

Fast forward 75 years and you find Jan and Jean Lundsteen following Lord Baden Powell's example here in the Three Fires Council.  With borrowed camping gear and Scout spirit to match Lord Powell's, Jan and Jean Lundsteen founded Troop 46 in 1981.  During the 36 consecutive years since, Mr. and Mrs. Lundsteen, as they are known to the Scouts, have worked tirelessly to guide and support a fun, purpose driven program that is always led by the boys and for the boys.

To honor this commitment, a committee of former Scoutmasters convened to form the Lundsteen Legacy of Leadership team, with the goal of raising funds within the Three Fires Council capital campaign, to honor Jan and Jean in 3 ways.

The new outdoor veranda of the new K-Lodge will be dedicated in honor of the Lundsteens, A scholarship fund solely to assist youth attend National Youth Leadership Training will be established and if funds allow, a training area will also be dedicated to the Lundsteens.

We are excited to honor a couple who have had such a positive impact on the lives of so many youth.  Over 100 Eagle Scouts and hundreds of Scouts who reaped many benefits from their involvement with Troop 46, even if their journey did not lead to the Eagle Scout award.
