Help The LIME Foundation by supporting our Senior Activities Program, NextGen Trades & Auto Academies, and the Turner Arts Initiative Music and Performing Arts!

A fundraising campaign for The LIME Foundation

Growing up as a disadvantaged youth, our Founder, Letitia Hanke knows the struggles that our youth endures today. Whether it's depression, loneliness, suidical thoughts or insecurities, our youth are in need of love, caring and attention more than ever to help steer them down the right path. The LIME Foundation was created from hatred, rascism and despair and has now has become hope, love and happiness for so many. The LIME Foundation consists of 4 programs: The NextGen Trades Academy, The Turner Arts Initiative Music, Arts and Performing Arts, Senior Activitiy Program and our 2019 newly launched NextGen Auto Academy.

The NextGen Trades Academy is an educational course for 16-24 year old youth in the construction trades. Not all youth are able or have the desire to go to college. That's where the trades academy steps in. Our program provides an opportunity for our youth to learn about 14 different trades such as Solar, Carpentry, Electrical, etc, along with meeting local contractors that volunteer their time to come educate about the opportunities available to our students. After completing the course, the students interview with local contractors for full time positions with their companies. To date, over 63% of our elgible students have secured jobs with local contractors. In July of 2018, two of our top students were able to go to the Bahamas where we partnered with the Centre for Training and Innovation (CTI). The LIME graduates trained the CTI students in fabricating portable solar kits. Not only did LIME give these students an opportunity to teach the skills that they learned during our program, but they also learned about other cultures while making new friends. Our second program is our Senior Activity Program. LIME has partnered with Healdsburg Nutrition which is a 6 week course that teaches our seniors 55 and above how to live a healthier life by making small, daily nutritious changes. A meal demonstration is done every class so they can see just how easy it is.In the class we incorporate chair yoga to promote better mobility. This program was created in hopes to reduce or preventheart disease, diabetes, cancer, arthritis or other afflications our seniors endure today

.

Our third program is the Turner Arts Initiative(TAI). Our Founder Letitia Hanke, grew up as one of a few black students in Lake County. She was bullied, and physically and mental abused for many years just because of the color of her skin. As a very depressed 8 year old girl, Letitia found solice in music. She started playing the trumpet and later on learned to play paino, drums, percussion and vocals. Music pulled her out of her shell and she believes that it was music that helped her continue down the right path. TAI was created to do the same for other youth experiencing these adversities as well. Letitia hopes that through creative arts such as, musical performing, videography, dance, photography and visual arts, she can help our youth express themselves though these outlets and also go down the right path.

Our newest program which will launch at the end of March of 2019 is our NextGen Auto Academy. Once we found out that other trades such as auto were struggling with workforce, we knew that we could help. We now with the help our ccommunity auto businesses, will be able to train our youth in the auto industry in so many areas such as auto detail, auto body, oil changes, tires, smog and so much more.

We will soon have a permananet location in Rohnert Park for our year round programs called the Sozo Center. Stay tuned for our grand opening on our website at www.thelimefoundation.org. Thank you for taking the time to read and thank you for supporting the LIME Foundation
