UNPRECEDENTED CHALLENGES

As a result of COVID-19, Chloe Kennedy, Maddi Mathes, and Casey Carpenter saw their senior years abruptly end, just 16 games into the 2020 season. For four years, these girls have given their all to the LHU softball program. All three girls are great role models for younger players on and off the field. This wasn’t the ending they deserved.

While COVID-19 continues to present us with an array of challenges there is some good news. All three girls were recently granted an extra year of eligibility by the NCAA. While we are excited to welcome Maddi and Casey back next year (Chloe has opted to attend graduate school), we are now presented with a new hurdle to overcome.

Since Maddi and Casey were expected to graduate and leave our program this spring their annual scholarship awards were promised to incoming freshman in our 2020 class of recruits. We have also been unable to generate alternative scholarship money through our traditional summer camps and clinics this off-season as all on-campus events have been cancelled through August.

No one could have predicted how this past season would play out. The past few months have been a roller coaster of emotions for us all, but we are excited that Maddi and Casey have opted to return next season. Their loyalty to our program is an inspiration and we are committed to supporting their dedication in return.

That’s why we need your help.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Coach Shannon has set a preliminary goal of $10,000 for this campaign. This money will help offset the scholarships that the program has been unable to generate through the cancellation of summer camps and clinics, and it will also support Maddi and Casey to afford their 5th year of eligibility.

Together, we have the power to accomplish great things. I ask that you consider making a gift today of any amount to help Maddi, Casey and the entire team on their quest to be great. Your support is very much appreciated. It will make a difference.

Thank you, and remember it’s always a great day to be a Bald Eagle!

Stay Safe!
