The William. J Larkin Jr. Community Response Task Force Fund receives donations for the purpose of serving residents and businesses within the greater Hudson Valley area who are facing challenges that require assistance above and beyond the means and responsibility of traditional public and private institutions. Funds raised support efforts that may include, but are not limited to, emergency assistance caused by natural disasters, food and prescription medication purchase and delivery, temporary lodging, transportation needs and education initiatives. This fund also provides support, as needed, to local charitable organizations whose mission helps to protect and improve the quality-of-life of residents and businesses in the district.
The work of this organization also honors and builds on former NYS Senator Bill Larkin's tremendous legacy of service. Senator Larkin served his country as a veteran of World War II and Korea. Served as an Army Project Officer (MP) successfully providing protection to Martin Luther King, Jr. during his historic March in Selma and protected President John F. Kennedy during his historic trip to Germany.
Col. Larkin often served his community in his capacity as a State Senator but often certain folks going through tough times that fell through the cracks could not always receive the assistance they needed. The purpose of this organization is to fill those holes in the system and help people, organizations and businesses that may be going through a tough time and need a little help. The goal is that those receiving help will also pay it forward one day, creating a more giving and hopeful community.
Our annual recognition of service event will honor those outstanding contributors to our mission and will highlight some local individuals and organizations that we have been able to assist this past year.
