ABOUT US

Ithaca Welcomes Refugees is a completely volunteer-led initiative founded in December 2015 to meet the global refugee crisis. We work to foster a welcoming and fair environment for refugees and at-risk immigrants, from Cambodia and Burma to Chile and Iraq. With continued support and guidance those looking for asylum have settled in Ithaca, and become integral to our diverse citizenry.

In order to continue providing high quality, individualized services for these vulnerable members of our community, we kindly ask for your support. The services we offer include but are not limited to:

• The Welcome Home Program: Focused on new refugee arrivals and at-risk immigrants, this program provides apartment set-up, basic needs support, emergency assistances, and early orientation to those new to the Ithaca area.
• Response Projects: Long-term support for new community members via a flexible range of services based on families’ needs.
• Global Roots Play School: Early childhood care in an easy-to-access downtown location, allowing parents to attend adult English classes nearby without worry. It provides access to high quality educational opportunities for low-income families, helping to empower parents and caregivers. Learn more here.

If you are interested in giving but do not wish to give by credit card online, you are welcome to send a check made out to "Ithaca Welcomes Refugees" to the address below. All checks which are received within the month of our "Season of Giving" campaign will be added manually and appear in the GiveGab donation list.
