It Takes a Village

RYM is committed to igniting the potential of mentees; therefore positioning them for long term success and to be future leaders in the community. RYM principal program is its annual Youth Empowerment Seminar Academy which is provided to 10-30 youth all inclusive and free of charge. Participants are selected from a pool of applicants to attend a 3-5 day ( 1 weekend and 3 check-up days) intensive character and self-esteem building workshop including physical, mental and social activities. The purpose of YES Academy is to remove “troubled” youth from their usual environment into one that is peaceful and safe and will empower youth to face their internal conflicts, begin the process to overcome them and convert their trauma into a motivational tool to achieve their professional goals. All youth participants are provided a mentor to serve as their personal resilience coach for the course of the mentoring year. 

In addition to the above, the list below, is a sample of the services that are provided to each mentee annually free of charge

·       Overnight bus trip to the African American Museum in Washington D.C

·       Development Workshops 

·       Bonding Events

·       Peer/ Team mentoring

·       80 hours per year of formal one on one mentorship (10 hours per month)

Scholarships for graduating seniors 

In order to raise critical funds needed to offset the cost of implementing, expanding, and sustaining the organization; and to close out the mentoring the year RYM will host a annual fundraising gala, June 27, 2019 in Brooklyn, NY.  This event will honor our mentees growth throughout the program and pay tribute to the mentors who have volunteered their time in working with our youths. At the event RYM will  have motivational guest speakers as well as present awards and scholarships to graduating seniors in the program.

RYM ask is that you assist in building a partnership and become one of its sponsors of the organization by providing a cash donation to offset cost, an item for a silent auction, or an in-kind donation for the Resilient Young Minds Gala or one of our many events taking place throughout the year. RYM aims is to raise $10,000 annually towards creating more ways to further its mission and empowering the youth
