From April 15-May 31st all donations received on the website will be directed to the Crisis Center’s 'it’s not a secret anymore' appeal which supports our housing, prevention, outreach and victim services programs – all of which significantly impact nearly 2,000 adults and children each year.

Vernetta's story
It was a hot July night when Vernetta reached her breaking point. She had endured years of emotional abuse. Her every move was controlled by her husband who had also become physically abusive. She picked up the phone and called the Crisis Center's 24-hour hotline. Soon after, she arrived at our emergency shelter feeling exhausted and afraid.
Vernetta immediately engaged in our Counseling Program, and after a few short weeks,she was accepted into the Transitional Housing Program.
Today, she is preparing to move into her own home. She is working full-time as a home-health nurse, but will still rely on the Crisis Center to help with this transition and provide Aftercare Services for up to 12 months. Vernetta now stands tall, confident and proud. She has built healthy boundaries and found her courageous spirit. She is a survivor.
