Independence Health & Therapy is the county’s leading wellness center providing adult day health and memory care programs, behavioral health services, and physical, occupational and speech therapy. Our programs are centered around improving lives through care, education, and advocacy.
Independence Health & Therapy is unique to McHenry County, as the only provider of a dementia specific program which includes a day program, caregiver education, and support groups. Additionally unique to Independence Health & Therapy, is the demographic of individuals served. Approximately 75% of all clients are classified as low income. Independence Health and Therapy accepts Medicaid, Medicare and those who are uninsured, offering scholarships or a sliding fee scale for care.
Our Adult Day Health and Memory Care program is a community based traditional day program model offering social services, activities, peer support and individual person-centered care while also providing a medical model with skilled services from nurses, therapists, and others.
Behavioral Health services care for those who are at risk of clinical depression, anxiety, and higher physical health needs. Our multidisciplinary team includes LCSW’s, community support specialists and a geriatric psychiatrists.
Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy program serves all ages and conditions. Over 60% of clients are children under the age of 13 with a myriad of different conditions and diagnoses, such as Cerebral Palsy, Autism and developmental and physical delays.
