Honor the legacy of Professor Joseph D. Santora

Make a contribution to the Health, Physical Education, and Dance Scholarship in his memory.

A fundraising campaign for Queensborough Community College

We are deeply saddened to share that Professor Emeritus Joseph D. Santora, known as "Popa Joe," passed away on Monday, September 15, 2025, at the age of 100, surrounded by his loving family.

A beloved educator and mentor, Professor Santora's career at Queensborough spanned more than three decades. He was the founding Chair of the Health, Physical Education, and Dance Department and oversaw the construction of the campus swimming pool, today known as the Professor Joseph D. Santora Natatorium, a lasting tribute to his vision and leadership.

To honor his remarkable legacy, his family has established an endowed scholarship supporting students in Health, Physical Education, and Dance.

In lieu of flowers, friends and loved ones are invited to contribute to the Health, Physical Education, and Dance Scholarship Fund in honor of Professor Joseph D. Santora and help continue the work that defined his life; empowering students to learn, grow, and thrive.
