What is the Senior Legacy Campaign?

Each year, we ask graduating seniors to participate in the tradition of giving by making a donation to Hunter College as a class.

The act of giving is an opportunity for soon-to-be-alumni to demonstrate their support of the mission of the College, express thanks for the superb education and opportunities received, and to act on the school’s motto: Mihi Cura Futuri - The Care of the Future is Mine.

Our CUNY budget can only go so far. It is through the support of generous donors that current and future students enjoy even greater opportunities and experiences than past graduates.

Where does my money go?

Funds raised will go to the College’s Annual Fund – the institution’s most heavily relied on resource for general student scholarships, programmatic improvements, faculty development, technological enhancements, library and athletics resources, and more!

Why does Hunter need my support?

Through the Senior Legacy Gift we hope to foster of culture of giving and involve students in making a difference for future generations at Hunter College.

Alumni participation plays a role in boosting Hunter’s overall ranking in publications like US News & World Report. High rankings help us attract a diverse body of students as well as excellent faculty. A strong alumni and student giving program is also seen as an attractive measure of institutional strength to larger prospective donors. 

How much should I contribute?

Many will give $20.23 in honor of their graduation year. Some will give more or less than that. There’s no set amount. It’s all up to the student because participation matters most!  Contributions of any size - even a few dollars - go a long way towards making a difference at Hunter.

Our goal is for the Class of 2023 to usher in a new era of the senior legacy gift as Hunter College looks into the future. Friends and family can donate to the Senior Legacy Gift in honor of graduating students, and students can contribute in honor of their favorite organizations or programs at Hunter. Together, we can show up for our college!
