Help Rowan

Rowan has been through a lot lately and will appreciate all the love and support he can get.

A fundraising campaign for Great River Rescue

Rowan is a one year old male Pit Bull Terrier that came to Great River Rescue on April 13, 2018. Unfortunately, after a few days it became clear that he wasn't feeling well. He vomited several times, seemed listless, and had no appetite. After a blood and fecal test, it still wasn't clear what was affecting him. On Friday, April 20 an X-ray was performed and a large blockage was discovered in his stomach and intestines. The veterinarian conducted a surgery that afternoon to remove the blockage and learned that it was rocks that he had been eating! The vet wasn't sure how well he would recover from the surgery so he was kept at the vet office and monitored over the weekend.

Fortunately, Rowan has recovered very well from his surgery! He is now back at the shelter, and behaving like a happy, healthy dog. He is on some meds, and his activity will be limited for a few weeks, but he should make a full recovery.

The total costs of all of his tests, the surgery, and hospitalization was about $1400. Great River Rescue has about $500 currently in our emergency medical fund from previous donations. Therefore, we are seeking about $900 to cover the rest of the cost of this emergency procedure. Thanks to community support, we are able to pay for this medical procedure, but wanted to give community members the opportunity to donate directly toward Rowan's needs if they like.

Thank you so much for your support for Rowan and all the pets at GRR.
