The New Hope Education Center, located in the Harvest House Ministry Center at 175 Jefferson Street, provides GED classes and 16 different certificate programs.. Focused on adults, the programs are provided by the Buffalo Public Schools, Erie 2 BOCES, Erie Community College and Literacy Volunteers. The New Hope Education Center is unique. No other site in the city offers the diversity of adult job training opportunities and range of providers. The Center also provides tutors, literacy training, consumer & legal counseling, and referrals for a broad range of community services.
The building is also home to the Good Neighbors Health Center — the city’s largest private free clinic — which provides primary care, vision exams & prescription eyeglasses, chiropractic and dental care for the uninsured and under-insured.
In addition, the expansion created new space to relocate the Baby & Children’s Ministry from its cramped quarters on Seneca Street. It provides free baby and children's clothing and furniture to over 6000 of families referred from over 200 agencies every year.
Our expansion project tripled our the space available, from 5,000 square feet to 17,000 square feet. That allowed us to expand from 400 students per year to over 250 per month.
But added space equals added costs and so we are asking our donors to help fill the gap.
