Lucky Orphans would like to introduce you to Gypsy!

Gypsy is a Paint mare, born in 2005. She arrived at LOHR in 2008 from Stuyvessant NY with Envy, Charisma, Whiskey, and Cuervo. When we arrived at the farm to rescue, we only intended to take the two mares and their foals. However, Gypsy was not letting us leave without her! She was hobbled and tied to a tree near a tension wire fence. She reared and fell into the fence, tearing open her shoulder. The owner came out and was going to shoot her there and then, but we talked him down and brought this girl home with us. Her physical wounds have healed, but the scars remain. Gypsy is very shy and takes a lot of positive reinforcement to approach. Once you build a relationship with her though she is the sweetest girl ever. If you groom her, she grooms you back! She loves participating in equine assisted reiki and bowen sessions. She is a testament to the power of forgiveness and the ability to overcome trauma.
