Located near the East End of Louisville, Adopt Me! Bluegrass Pet Rescue is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that facilitates the rescue, rehabilitation and adoption of animals from area kill shelters. We are an all volunteer group and 100% of your donations go towards the medical and emotional treatment and care of the companion animals.

Adopt Me! Bluegrass Pet Rescue chooses to do things a little differently than other rescues! Our main focus is the animal but we also realize that behind each successful placement in a Forever Family there is also a "people" side to the story! All lives are affected when a match is made and Adopt Me! Bluegrass Pet Rescue works hard to find the "perfect fit" for "both sides!" In the past four years alone, we have placed over 1,500companion animals with loving committed families!

Hollywood Movies - In August of 2019 FIVE of our Canines were selected by Ron Howard to shoot scenes in his upcoming movie Hillbilly Elegy! We're so excited to see the finished product!
- Selected pups were Herbie, Pryce, Archibald, Cassidy and Faulkner!
- In October, Brooklyn was chosen to film a scene with the main character dog in a Russo Brothers film.

Paws Behind Bars Trained Dogs - This program allows unmannerly dogs from shelters to receive the experienced training from skilled and trained inmate handlers so that they can become a highly adoptable companion animal!

Scent Detection Dog for invasive species in Everglades National Park - Our Beagle puppy, Violet, was adopted and was trained to replace "Python Pete" who passed away.

Rescued hundreds of homeless animals, many with medical maladies such as broken legs, ACL tears, cherry eyes, heartworm positive, tumors, missing limbs, mange, neurological impairment, and the list goes on.

Senior Citizens - Numerous Adopt Me! BPR dogs have found homes with Seniors giving them needed companionship!

First Therapy Dog in KY Alternative High School - Maisy, a Mastiff mix, works with high school staff member Anita at the Buckner Alternative High School in Oldham County!

Paws For Me Trained Service/Therapy and Emotional Support Dogs - PAWS FOR ME (a new program under Adopt Me! BPR) is providing Service/Therapy and Emotional Support Training to canines to be placed in institutions, with children and with Veterans experiencing issues like PTSD.

Military Base Service Dog - Service Dog, Smudge, is used for emotional support after the soldiers Live-Stream Combat Training Sessions on an Indiana Military Base.

Adopt Me! Bluegrass Pet Rescue is host to a fascinating inmate training program called PAWS BEHIND BARS! Located in the Luther Luckett Correctional Complex in Oldham County, this program has been maintained by a staff member from Adopt Me! BPR since 2009! This program trains unmannerly canines and molds them into highly desirable family companion pets. While this program absolutely gives the canines a second chance at life, the Paws Behind Bars program also enhances the lives of the inmate handlers by giving purpose, responsibility, accountability and education for possible reentry into society.
