#MeToo  Now what happens?  Are you believed?  Do you know where to reach for help?  Chicago Metropolitan Battered Women's Network is often the first place people reach out to for help.  We run the state domestic violence hotline.  We are also a network of member agencies who all do direct service for domestic violence victims and survivors.

Over the last couple of months, the public has seen #metoo become a national outpouring of stories.  Telling the story of abuse is helpful, but the next step is often "who can help me?"  Our domestic violence hotline answers approximately 30,000 calls annually of survivors looking for help.  We direct them to agencies across the state of Illinois.  We are often the first stop for someone looking for shelter to escape an abusive relationship.  We know what shelters have availability and what shelters are full and can direct someone to the nearest place with availability.  Thru our CTI program we have trained professions, volunteers, medical professionals, and the police in order to best treat a domestic violence victim/survivor.  Our Medical Response Collaborative works with hospitals in creating partnerships with local domestic violence agencies in order to streamline access to services.

With your help, we can increase our services.  We know more people have experienced domestic violence and aren't able to access the services they desperately need.

Thank you!!!
