Giving Tuesday

Become part of the QDEP network while supporting the lives of LGBTQIA+, HIV+ and GNC immigrants in detention.

A fundraising event for Queer Detainee Empowerment Project - a project of CTA

Event Information

Supporting the Queer Detainee Empowerment Project this holiday season will allow us to continue providing numerous services to our members and keep our fundraising on a grassroots level. We want to keep connecting with people who believe and support our mission and the work we do. Increasing our support network increases the impact of our work and the number of people we are able to help get out of detention, so please share! LGBTQIA+ people are 97 times more likely to experience sexual abuse in detention, which makes this work an urgent matter.

Supporting QDEP will help LGBTQIA+ GNC and HIV+ immigrants who are detained because we work directly with these groups to connect them with pro bono lawyers, permanent housing, mental health resources, MetroCards, clothing, toiletries, and much more. QDEP believes in the power of community, which becomes immediately available to our members who have just been released. Members often stay with QDEP and become volunteers and activists who work to change issues they are affected by. QDEP is the only organization in NYC focused solely on supporting LGBTQ+ immigrants in detention centers with direct services and optional hands-on training in organizing. We hope to gain your support so we can continue pursuing our mission, if you are unable to donate please share this campaign.

QDEP is a fiscally sponsored project of the Center for Transformative (CTA). CTA is an educational 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and is legally and financially responsible for all our project activities.
