An architectural feature characteristic of 2nd Empire design is the mansard roof with decorative iron cresting on top. Recently a piece of our cresting along the tower on the front of the mansion broke loose from its support and will need to be repaired. While we were able to safely get the piece down from the building thanks to W.L. Klines Construction, it will require the use of a lift to properly and safely put it back. It is also our intention to have all of the supports and bolts checked when the weather gets better and the cresting across the top of the mansion will soon need to be painted.
For this Giving Tuesday coming up on December 3rd we are asking for your help to restore this piece to its proper place and help us with the preventive maintenance that will need to be done soon . Please consider making a donation as part of this years Giving Tuesday campaign. No amount is too small. We appreciate your support in helping the museum preserve a 150 year old piece of Binghamton's history.
