Give to the Student Food Pantry 2019

Over 2000 students served help us make it 2000 more. Help us restock our Student Food Pantry as we reach our five year anniversary!

A fundraising campaign for CUNY School of Law

Five years ago, through the generosity of the staff and faculty at CUNY Law, we raised $1,910.00 to create a food pantry for our students. Please help us restock the pantry this year by donating or giving non-perishable items during our food drive.

This year our food pantry enters another milestone as we look towards expanding our options to frozen goods and the opening of our pop-up clothing swap location. To date we have severed over 2000 students and their families. This semester alone we have helped over 150 students and their families gain better food security. This pantry has filled in a gap for students, who in the past, have struggled to put food on their tables for themselves and their families.

Here are just two student testimonials:

“The food pantry has been a great help to me. As a financially independent student it's honestly hard to make sure that I always have food in my apartment, let alone find the time to cook meals to bring with me to school. The food pantry has been such a great help because of all the long hours I spend at school. With the food pantry being at school I don't have to worry about not eating for the day or night.” Recent Alum

“I was not able to take out loans during law school, so I worked, and I fed my family on what I could find for cheap or free. I sometimes struggled. I often brought meals from home to save money, but sometimes that was not an option as payday neared and our pantry was down to a few canned goods. ... I was often hungry while trying to make it to the end of the day. Luckily, during my last year at CUNY Law I learned about this food pantry located on campus, where people could help themselves to a varied selection of non perishable items. I remember the first time I went there and smiled as I packed a bag full of peanut butter and jelly, knowing my son would have a lovely time enjoying his PB&J for dinner. ... Knowing this pantry was there for me signaled not just a free meal, but a strong sense of CUNITY, that those around me weren't just "at-work" or "finishing law school" but that they genuinely cared for my all-over well being. ...This pantry met my needs, and I am always grateful for that bit of humanity. ” 2015 Alum
