Give to Goose

Help Goose land on the right paw!

A fundraising campaign for Humane Society of Western Montana

Goose is a handsome one-year-old goofball with loads of energy and a big personality. He found his way to the shelter 5 weeks ago and we quickly fell in love with his big ears and even bigger heart.

When he arrived he had both medical and behavior concerns, which we quickly addressed. Goose had one of the worst urinary tract infections our vet had ever seen. At such a young age he had already been bounced around to several homes, and had experienced punishment for common puppy behaviors, including chewing and house training. We knew that Goose had an uphill battle ahead of him, but he has already progressed and learned so much. He is learning to relax in his crate, sit at doors, and walk politely on leash. He loves to cuddle and catches on quickly in training sessions. Goose is the poster child of our new field trip program and had a blast on his nature walk and joyride.

On Tuesday we noticed Goose limping and took him in for x-rays. We discovered that he had an old injury that hadn't been treated. Our friends Dr. Scherr and Dr. Zirbel were able to squeeze Goose in for urgent surgery that ended up being a difficult 4-hour procedure to repair his elbow. He now has two screws and a pin in his leg. With reduced fees and medication, his hospital bill is $2,000.

Your donation of any amount will go directly into our Medical Fund to help Goose with his medical needs and recovery. This special dog needs your help to return to his happy, healthy self!

We are also looking for a very special foster family to keep him on his strict recovery schedule. Goose will need to stay in a crate with extremely limited movement as he heals - the doc says complete restriction. He needs to be let out several times a day to continue with his house training routine, so a home without stairs would be best. Ideally, we are looking for someone who works from home so that Goose can be a stay at home dog during his recovery.

If you feel that you could help Goose by fostering or adopting, we will provide all of the resources you need to help this special guy. Please email Mariah at [email protected].
