Give the Gift of Water

Your support will save our precious water for future generations!

A fundraising campaign for Hill Country Conservancy

Will Austin and the surrounding Hill Country have enough water for the next generation of Texans?

Drought is a virtual certainty in our region.

Central Texas’ longest drought in recent years lasted from May, 2010 to July, 2015—5 long years.   During this time, we experienced a devastating series of wildfires,
one of which scorched 34,000 acres of land in Bastrop Country and consumed over 1,000 homes.  The Highland Lakes, from which we derive our drinking water, dropped to alarmingly low levels.  The agricultural, tourism, and real estate markets surrounding the lakes all tanked (the agriculture sector alone lost 7.2 billion dollars in one year) causing a chilling effect throughout our entire region’s economy.  Ranchers sold off herds and farmers could not irrigate their crops.  Furthermore, as water and plant life became scarce, the severe drought threatened the survival of our most vulnerable wildlife populations.

Today, moderate to extreme drought is again ravaging the Texas Hill Country.  With our rapidly growing population and our warming weather (this past September was the hottest on record), water is a precious commodity. Your concern over the future availability of water would be well founded.

The good news is that you can be part of the solution.

Your donation will protect critical land surrounding lakes, rivers, and aquifers.  Your support will ensure the rain that falls will soak into the ground, recharging our aquifers and lakes, filling our reservoirs, and replenishing our water supply.Donate today to save our precious water for future generations.

 Thank you for your support,
