Last spring, thanks to donors like you, we were able to send our small staff to the annual Fair Trade Federation Conference for the first time in a number of years. We shared thoughts, questions, and learning with a number of inspiring, successful, and committed people.
Among them were Kali Basi of Conscious by Kali out of Nepal, and Sherry Roddrick of Thistle Farms out of Tennessee, two of our favorite producer organizations. Both Sherri and Kali shared their deep passion for working with women determined to escape human trafficking, a $150 billion industry, second only to drug trafficking as the largest crime industry in the world.
Your support has helped us partner with MSU-B's Women and Gender Studies Center to screen A Path Appears in Billings and host supplementary activities--one way we could participate in local efforts to educate and learn with our community on human trafficking in Montana.
Our time at the conference allowed us to learn from other organizations like ours on successfully navigating rapidly changing nonprofit, fair trade, and retail landscapes. We came home with new ideas, encouraged and resolved, knowing our compassionate community will help us get there.
