Fezziwig Pom Parkin, and his daughter, Fezziwig Tulip (Ruby) became residents of Lucky Orphans in November of 2018. They were on our waiting list for 7 years, when in 2012, their owner lost a battle with cancer.
The bonded pair thrived under the care of their late owner's mother. When the farm was put up for sale, they needed a home, ideally where they could stay together.
Pom is 19,and Ruby is 12. They now live at Lucky Orphans and will never be separated. When they moved in, we did not know how they would adjust or adapt to our small farm. We also had initial concerns about where they would settle into a paddock, and if our fencing was adequate enough to withstand their 2,500 lbs, each.
They surprised us all as true gentle giants. They have proven to us all that although size can be intimidating, that it only increased their ability to love, and be loved. Pom and Ruby are the greatest with children, have participated in Yoga with the Horses, and have become an integral part of our therapy programs. Their contribution has and will continue to allow us to grow our programs and carry out our mission. "People Helping Horses Heal People"
During the warmer months, Pom and Ruby are the greeting brigade at the farm, meeting you at the fence as soon as you get out of you car.
This January we are asking you to donate on behalf of Pom and Ruby and their TREMENDOUS contribution to our farm; our goal is to raise $10,000, with the help of our community, towards the care of this dynamic duo.
