Precinct2gether, Inc.
Over 4 decades ago, when Jim Fonteno first ran for the office of Harris County Commissioner, he realized that senior citizens were an underserved and often forgotten segment of the population. His campaign promise, “If I am elected, I will create a senior citizen program” resulted in the formation of East Harris County Senior Citizens founded in 1975.
It was a ground-breaking concept for its day! Precinct Two was the first Harris County precinct to have a senior citizens program. East Harris County Senior Citizens paved the way for all the senior programs which are now an integral part of each Harris County Commissioner Precinct operation.
In 1978, East Harris County Senior Citizens was formally incorporated as a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization. All the advantages that a non-profit organization offered to the senior program were duplicated in 1997 with the creation of the East Harris County Youth Program.
In November 2007, an Amendment to the Articles of Incorporation was filed changing the name to Precinct2gether, Inc. and united Precinct 2 senior, youth and veterans programs under one nonprofit. Precinct2gether is committed to building partnerships and providing resources that support quality of life programs in Harris County Precinct Two.
