Give a Gift to Family Promise

Until there are no families who need us, we need you. We would be honored if you are able to consider making a gift to Family Promise today. Thank you.

A fundraising campaign for Family Promise of Gallatin Valley

What is Family Promise?

Family Promise of Gallatin Valley is an independent 501(c)3 organization dedicated to serving homeless children and their families.  We coordinate an Interfaith Hospitality Network made up of faith communities throughout the Gallatin Valley.

Our Mission

We empower homeless families with children to achieve self-sufficiency through partnerships, services, and advocacy.

Our Vision

Ending homelessness in the Gallatin Valley, one family at a time.

How does it work?

About five times each year, for one week at a time, each host congregation provides a place to sleep, meals, and compassionate hospitality for up to four homeless families. Volunteers are the core of the Family Promise network.  At each site, volunteers cook meals, socialize with guests, play with children and stay overnight.  They also help care for the Day Center as well as fundraising activities and guest events.

Local agencies refer families to our network. All guests are screened by our professional staff to ensure there is no active substance abuse, risk of violence, or serious mental illness.  Family Promise families work actively with our case manager as well as local social service agencies to find employment, childcare, affordable housing — allowing them to develop the skills they need to regain their independence, and keep it!

Our Day Center

Our Day Center at 429 East Story in Bozeman is a converted house and a comfortable space for families to be during the day. Many families use this space while they are searching for employment, or when they are not working or attending appointments in the community. Families can rest, do laundry, cook, store food and personal belongings, access the internet, phone, and a physical mailing address, meet with the case manager, take care of their children, and be a family!

Successes and Accomplishments

  • Family Promise has provided shelter and opportunities to 568 people – including 152 separate families, 318 children and 250 adults. About 70% of the families completing the program have successfully attained stable housing.
  • Our 11 Host Congregations and 10 Partner Congregations are active participants.  All congregations have a skilled volunteer coordinator who actively recruits and organizes the 2,000 trained volunteers  who provide direct guest services.
  • These volunteers have contributed over 85,000 direct service volunteer hours of service since March 10, 2006! Additionally, over 3,600 nights of warm shelter and 60,000 home-made meals have been provided to our guests.
  • Our Family Day Center at 429 East Story Street is fully paid for thanks to a generous contribution by Tim and Mary Barnard! It is full of warm, comfortable furnishings, and is a safe haven for families during the day and on the weekends.
  • Family Promise has a transitional living opportunity available: the Stepping Stone Apartment in the basement of the Family Day Center. Graduate families pay a reduced rent price (starting at below market rate) and receive continued case management.
