Thank you. 2 small words that are bursting with gratitude! Thanks to the
kindness and generosity of friends, family and strangers - we were able
to purchase a wheelchair van on July 6th, 2017. Since then, we've been
going non-stop! Doctors’ appointments, family days, a vacation in
Vermont --- all the while, Em was comfortable, happy and safe. This has
been nothing short of life changing!
Unfortunately, Em's needs and requirements aren't going anywhere. In fact, they just keep growing as she grows! We currently live in a 2nd floor apartment - the home is family owned and where I (Em's mom) have spent the majority of my life!
Em is up to 67lbs and is 4ft 5 inches tall... carrying her up and down the stairs is not easy... my back is sore daily.
We are unable to leave her with anyone because of safety reasons, no one would be able to carry her out safely. We are trying to raise funds for an elevator/lift - This would allow her to go from the van, right into the house, while remaining in her wheelchair. Right now, she must come out of the chair and be carried up the stairs, as well as carried down and put into the chair when we leave. It's a labor of love but we need to protect and care for OUR bodies so that we can care for Em! She is going to continue to grow - we are not!
The van has opened so many doors and wheelchair access to our home is the only thing limiting us right now.
Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to help us reach this goal and fill this need!
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
