Why we need your support:
As we prepare our young ladies to go off to school and experience the wonderful opportunities that college can bring, one thing that we cannot prepare them for are the hardships that come with school paired with motherhood. A mother's ability to grow & succeed in life starts with her being able to provide financially for her child/children, but the odds of graduation after motherhood are greatly stacked against her. Statistically, less than 1% of college moms graduate before the age of 30 with a bachelor’s degree. This is largely due to the difficulties faced with accessing the tools and resources they need to be successful in the academic world. This is where we come in! The Collegiate Mom Coalition is a grassroots non-profit organization, designed to serve as a source of excellence for college women who must strike that delicate balance between scholarship and motherhood.
Through programs that enhance their education, economic & social involvement, CMC not only inspires women to become the role-models and advocates that universities need to encourage other“nontraditional” students, we also also provide them with the tangible tools they need to be successful. This includes resume building workshops, professional dress consultations, interview skills training, programs centered around self-care, panel discussions with professionals in the community,and much more.
One of our major fundraising events is coming up and we’d love for you to help us make a deserving young woman’s dreams come true. Our 3rd Annual Ms.Collegiate Mom Scholarship Pageant will be held on Thursday, April 11th, 2019 at Huston-Tillotson University in the Seabrook Chapel from 6:30pm to 9pm.
This year’s pageant theme is “The Beauty in Blooming” and will be centered around the idea that growth is a beautifully unique process. We hope you will commit to helping us grow as well because we cannot do this without your support. Every dollar will go towards scholarships and production costs for future programming that the Collegiate Mom Coalition will be hosting throughout the year.
This event is going to be ground-breaking and we believe it presents a unique opportunity for you to showcase your business to the local community. Each year we have had more than 150+ attendees at this event and we’re looking to grow even more in 2019. You won’t want to miss the chance to participate in this exciting event.
