Dakota's Surgeries

Help Dakota live happy & pain-free by chipping in for his surgeries

Hi there! My name is Dakota. Everyone who meets me loves my goofy St. Bernard grin and my happy-go-lucky personality. My life is now awesome, but I was a real mess when I first came to C.A.R.E. Someone left me on my own in the scary forest preserve, and you can just imagine how hard it was for me.

C.A.R.E. healed my many infections and abrasions and restored my underweight body and matted coat. All seemed well and then we discovered two things are still causing issues.

My doctor says I have inturned eyelids, or entropion, which means my eyelids rub against my eyeballs. Ouch! (But I try not to let it bother me!).

The doctor also found that my hip bones keep trying to escape my hip sockets, which will make me hurt a lot as I get older. I can still run and play now, but my doctor says my hips might give out when I least expect it – and that will be a really big ouch.

If I can get the surgery on my eyes, and on my hips, my life will really be so very happy!

--------

Dakota’s eye surgery will cost about $500 for each eye, and his hip surgery will cost about $8,000 for each hip. We are hoping to raise at least $10,000 to help offset some of the costs. Your donation, large or small, will help this great dog enjoy a wonderful and much-deserved new life.
