Crown City 000.5K

Like running... to the fridge for a beer.

A fundraising event for Habitat for Humanity of Tompkins and Cortland Counties

Event Information

10:00am Saturday, September 14, 2019

1st Annual Crown City 000.5K    Courthouse Park, Cortland NY

Welcome to your new favorite race, or maybe your new favorite not-really-a-race. This is a 000.5K not-really-a-race. It is more of a stroll, a meander, a wander, a traipse for about a third of a mile.  We can all do that!!!  It’s a chance to complete a race event, collect a nifty T-shirt, and spend time with your favorite family and friends, all while supporting Habitat for Humanity.

Think of it as a Saturday Night Live version of a 5K race. Yes, you’ll get a race bib with your own number and you can capture a selfie crossing the finish line under an official balloon arch. Think how great you will feel and look (still fresh, even if you splash water on your face) in that photo for your living room or office.

Bring all your friends... they can participate even if they are on crutches or use a walker or are pulling their small children in a little red wagon. No sweating or competition involved! And if that wasn’t enough, you’ll be in the beautiful, historic Courthouse Park in downtown Cortland, NY the entire time with music provided by Sound Decision Mobile DJ Service.

There will be 2 run times. At 10:55 we’ll let  families with little ones have their own fun. Imagine strollers and big wheels. At 11:05 the main event kicks off.

We’ll make sure you don’t overdo it. There will be plenty of opportunity to rest and carb load and you’ll even earn a token for a beer  (21 and older). You decide whether to hit the beer tent before or after the run.

This is the running event for the Underachievers in all of us.  Grab your slippers, let’s go!

It’s like Running to the fridge for a beer!

Options. Everybody loves options!

If you’re the sort that enjoys an upgraded seat, luxury car, the best of the best; consider this option. You won’t have to run, you won’t have to walk... you will be driven from the start to the finish in a ‘kickin ride! Everyone will recognize you as the Royalty of the Crown City 000.5K.  Don’t wait to register. Seats are limited!

If you just can’t make it to town that day or you want to get all the swag without running, consider this option. A few days before the race you will be sent a link. Jim-Bob will run(ish) the entire race with a Go-Pro camera on his head. His brother Joe-Bob will provide minute by minute commentary so you can “live the moment” all without leaving your couch. You’ll still get the T-shirt, the crazy cool oval sticker for your car, the participatory medal... how good can it get???

Please support our generous sponsors.

About the Organization

Habitat for Humanity of Tompkins and Cortland Counties

Habitat for Humanity of Tompkins and Cortland Counties (TCHFH) builds decent housing in partnership with families in need of affordable housing.
We are part of Habitat for Humanity International's global, nonprofit housing movement operated on Christian principles that seeks to put God’s love into action by building homes, communities and hope. TCHFH is dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally and worldwide through constructing, rehabilitating and preserving homes; by advocating for fair and just housing policies; and by providing training and access to resources to help families improve their shelter conditions.
Habitat for Humanity was founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a simple, durable place to live in dignity and safety, and that decent shelter in decent communities should be a matter of conscience and action for all.
