Throughout the challenging situations during the COVID-19 emergency, our Way Back Inn team has been committed, focused, and hard at work to help people suffering from substance and gambling use disorders. In times of high stress and uncertainty, addictions heighten and the need for help grows immensely.
While the need for treatment grows, the shutdowns have caused us to cancel big fundraisers and community events that we count on to keep our operations fully functional. In the last several weeks, we have witnessed the need for our services increasing and funding decreasing—our expenses have gone up to help equip our agency with masks and cleaning supplies, along with an upgrade to our computer system so we are able to provide telehealth counseling.
May 5th, 2020, is #GivingTuesdayNow, a special opportunity to help Way Back Inn during the coronavirus pandemic. Please make any donation you can to help us all get through these difficult times. Way Back Inn provides life-changing recovery programs for people in the Chicagoland area. Each dollar you donate is used to help people who are trying to re-build their lives and overcome their addiction. Our mission is to rebuild lives damaged by addiction in a personalized healing environment. Since our founding in 1974, we have been able to offer vital support for people trying to overcome an alcohol, substance, or gambling use disorder. Every client is treated with dignity and respect.
Our vision is to create an environment where men and women’s lives are transformed and relationships are healed. The Way Back Inn recovery program focuses on the integration of the body, mind, and spirit, and we pride ourselves on the individualized and specialized treatment we can provide to each person.
We are committed to serving those most in need in our community. 90% of the participants who come to Way Back Inn have no insurance, or are on Medicaid, and are lower-income individuals, at or below the poverty level. Many are Veterans. Most have no other place to turn, and many have been homeless before coming to Way Back Inn. Way Back Inn is committed to providing a valuable life-changing experience for these individuals.
Thousands of participants have benefited from our program and have gone on to lead re-built and successful lives. We have recovery programs in Oak Park, Maywood, Forest Park, and Melrose Park, and are committed to providing a continuum of care for our participants, caring for our clients and their families even after they have left our program.
