Rancho Alegre Radio is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting Tejano and Conjunto music. Projects include digitizing analog recordings, interviewing legendary and up-and-coming artists, maintaining and constructing a historical record of Tejano and Conjunto music, connecting artists with professional and business services, and presenting the annual Rancho Alegre Conjunto Music Festival and various events throughout the year.
In addition to production partners Compadresmusic, GA Productions and Full Gallop, we have a great crew of volunteers who help us with big events and special projects. We also work with and have supported the work of other nonprofits with similar missions like Texas Folklife, the Austin Tejano Music Coalition, the Tejano Music Alliance of Texas, the Central Texas Accordion Association and Austin Friends of Traditional Music.
We are a diverse group of individuals who love to support this music. The vast majority of us are Latinos who grew up with Tejano and Conjunto music and connect with it on a deep, cultural level and some of us have come to love it later in life.
Numbers:- We have presented over 60 different groups from all over Texas at the Rancho Alegre Conjunto Music Festival.
- Since 2011, we have recorded hundreds of hours of oral histories and interviews with dozens of Tejano and Conjunto artists in their own words.
- We are dedicated to gender equity in our operations and on our lineups. 2/3 of our staff, volunteers, and board of directors are women.
