Women’s Volleyball, it’s More Than A Game
Canisius Women’s Volleyball, despite many restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, persevered and succeeded on the field, in the classroom, and in the community.
Over the past year, our team had a successful season with an overall 9-4 record. Ella Louissa and Hannah Nelson were named to the 2020-2021 All-MAAC Volleyball team. This past school year players Callie Chamulak, Ashley Kekeisen, Rachel Kinney, Bree Long, Ella Loussia, Hannah Nelson, Joli Ruby, Elle Shult, and Camille Vanleer received a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher and were named to the MAAC’s Women’s Volleyball All-Academic Team. In addition, our student-athletes were one of nineteen Canisius athletic teams to achieve an average GPA over 3.0. We are proud of their continued dedication to not only their sport but also to their academic studies as well. Despite busy schedules, our athletes got involved in a community outside of Canisius to help them become well-rounded leaders both on and off the field.
This past year our Griffs donated their time throughout Buffalo to help better and expand upon the Jesuit values which we as an institution practice and encourage daily. One of the pillars of Canisius, the Jesuit community, as well as our volleyball program, is for our athletes to be women for and with others. Through all their hard work and dedication they are becoming strong Griffin Leaders and setting an example for teammates and classmates alike.
Your donation to Canisius Women’s Volleyball More Than A Game Campaign will help provide our student-athletes with essential equipment like new balls, ball carts, training equipment, video programs as well as an update to our locker room and other training areas. In addition, a donation to our team will allow us to continue to grow our program, assist in travel expenses, and provide more opportunities for team bonding and programs to help them learn and grow.
A huge part of our success as a team is made possible by the generosity of our donors over the past year. Your continued support allows our program to harvest an environment that encourages growth for our Griffs in the classroom, on the field, and within our community.
