Men’s Soccer, it’s More Than A Game
Canisius Men’s Soccer, despite many restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, persevered and succeeded on the field, in the classroom, and in the community.
Over the past year, our team had a successful season with an overall 0-5 record. Deu Awuok, Lachlan Beever, Vince Cancilla, Spencer Catalano, Ryan Dagelman, Alessandro Fabiano, Ethan Grover, Federico Mereto, Glorie Ndagano, Killian Panis, Jo Preci, Julius Schoner, and Jonny Tekie all achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher and were named to the MAAC’s Men’s Soccer All-Academic Team. In addition, our student-athletes were one of nineteen Canisisu athletic teams to achieve an average GPA over 3.0. We are proud of their continued dedication to not only their sport but also to their academic studies as well. Despite busy schedules, our athletes got involved in a community outside of Canisius to help them become well-rounded leaders both on and off the field.
This past year our Griffs donated their time throughout Buffalo to help better and expand upon the Jesuit values which we as an institution practice and encourage daily. One of the pillars of Canisius, the Jesuit community, as well as our soccer program, is for our athletes to be men for and with others. Through all their hard work and dedication they are becoming strong Griffin Leaders and setting an example for teammates and classmates alike.
Your donation to Canisius Men’s Soccer More Than A Game Campaign will help provide our student-athletes with an upgraded locker room. It also will help provide essential athletic equipment like high-quality soccer balls and indoor and outdoor small-sided goals. This will help our athletes perform better at the Division 1 level. Your donation will also help us be able to increase our travel roster for our away games.
A huge part of our success as a team is made possible by the generosity of our donors over the past year. Your continued support allows our program to harvest an environment that encourages growth for our Griffs in the classroom, on the field, and within our community.
