Bridging The Gap

Support Our Students. Sustain Our Mission.

A fundraising campaign for Homewood Children's Village

Recently, $400 million in federal AmeriCorps funding was unexpectedly cut, and Homewood Children’s Village is one of 26 programs across Pennsylvania directly impacted.

Unless ongoing legal efforts are successful, we will be forced to shut down our AmeriCorps program on May 9, affecting 10 dedicated members and the 500+ students they support daily across Faison, Lincoln, Urban Academy, and Westinghouse.

Over the past eight years, our AmeriCorps team has served more than 3,000 students. Just this past year, 70% of students improved or maintained Promise-Ready GPAs.

Now, we’re asking our community to stand in the gap.

This is the third federal funding cut we've weathered in recent months. While we've taken difficult but necessary steps to reduce staff and preserve our overall impact, this latest loss puts our ability to fulfill our mission at serious risk.

To respond, we’re launching an emergency campaign to raise $80,000 ($8,000 per member) to prevent service disruption and support our AmeriCorps members through this transition. Funds will help us:

  • Sustain student services across our partner schools

  • Provide transition support to members we are unable to retain

  • Recruit volunteers to help fill urgent support gaps in programs
